Silent Sky Project#
Drie
Visie
van de kunstenaar
“In this project Rob Sweere considers the earth, as the sculpture like
object in his artwork. The earth is a big ball floating in space. From the
surface of this ball you can look into space. This can happen from all sides of
this sphere. Following the concept of this project the conversations with the
sky will take place in many countries around the world, to create many different
points on the globe from where we look into space.
As a child we have been lying on our back in the grass and spend time
looking into the sky. We looked at the clouds, gazed into space and gave room to
our fantasies, our dreams.
Didn't
we all do that sometime in our youth, in any country of the world?
And
how often do we give ourselves this opportunity just to dream and do nothing
special, now that we are grown up? How much do you really see, how conscious are
you of your daily surrounding? Do you really experience your environment? Or do
we use this space just to move from one place to another to fulfil our daily
duties?”
kosmos.
“All
around the globe groups of people are invited to have a Silent Conversation with
the Sky. They are taking part in a growing artwork and have a personal new
experience of their daily surrounding. Silent Sky Project# consists of a series
of small events, on many different locations, cultures and circumstances on the
planet. All the events together make it a global happening.”
Inzet
bewustwording.
In
stralende bol verdeeld over verschillende tijden.
“All over the world we, people, are different. Different
colours, languages, geography, religions, cultures etc. etc. Are
we also different while looking into the sky? Do we share the same dreams and
poetry?”
“The artist, Rob Sweere, works together with the local people who
invite him. Together they will look after the group of people invited. And also
together they will look for a good moment and location to do the action. The
location were the action is done has to have a 'logical' relation with this
group of people. This can for example be the place were they work, or live. A
conceptual relation is also possible.”
“A group of people are invited to have a Conversation with the Sky.
There is no limit to the amount of people.
Each group of people in the project should have a 'natural' relation with
each other.
This means that they can have a practical relation, like co-workers. Or
there can be a conceptual relation, like people who share the same ideas and
unite in a foundation. Or people who without knowing each other share the same
public space.
Everyone taking part in the action looks at the Sky for 30 minutes, while
lying on their back. The way the group is positioned on the location is being
choreographed by the artist. This is NOT a performance for an audience. In this
project the action is for the personal individual experience of the participant.
Directly after the action experiences are being collected from the
participants by the artist and his (local) assistants.”
Verslag
museum.
“A photo is made of the group having the Conversation with the Sky by
the artist. This picture will be returned to the group of people who did the
action. This can happen in many forms. For example through postcards, a big
print outside, a nice framed print in their building, on their website.”
Daarnaast
“Rob Sweere will make high quality photo prints of all the different
actions. This series of photo's can be used for presentations in galleries and
museums. A special website about the project is under construction and will be
put online. So everyone around the world can get information about the project
and see the project grow.”

TEKST - Silent
Sky Project#
The Silent Sky Project# is an international art-project by the Dutch
artist Rob Sweere (1963)
From1989 until 1995 Rob Sweere has done many performances and actions. In
museums, galleries and also outdoor in natural surroundings. This resulted in
performances with audience, photo works, video works and installations.
Since 1995 he creates circumstances for the public themselves to
experience their daily surrounding in a different way. Sweere felt a certain
lack in how he was able to communicate his intense experiences from doing his
actions. And concluded that the public themselves should do these kind of
actions, so everyone can have his or her own genuine experience. He invites
people to become actively involved in his artworks. Already thousands of people
have been in contact with his many different projects. And from their reactions
Sweere fee's stimulated to have his projects grow and to make them available for
more people
SILENT SKY PROJECT#
Silent Sky Project# is a project where the artist is directly involved in
guiding the public into certain conditions to create an atmosphere for the most
intense involvement in the artwork.
In this project Rob Sweere considers the earth, as the sculpture like
object in his artwork.
Or do
we use this space just to move from one place to another to fulfil our daily
duties?
In the Silent Sky Project# Sweere invites groups of people to spend time
together lying on their back and looking into the sky. You do this together and
at the same time you are by yourself looking from your own inner universe into
another universe, or is it the same?
All over the world we, people, are different. Different
colours, languages, geography, religions, cultures etc. etc. Are
we also different while looking into the sky? Do we share the same dreams and
poetry?
The Silent Sky Project# is one artwork which consists of many small
events happening in many different parts of the world. Together these events
make it one big happening.
All
around the globe groups of people are invited to have a Silent Conversation with
the Sky. They are taking part in a growing artwork and have a personal new
experience of their daily surrounding. Silent Sky Project# consists of a series
of small events, on many different locations, cultures and circumstances on the
planet. All the events together make it a global happening.
The setting in which the Silent Sky Project# is happening:
A. A group of people are invited to have a Conversation with the Sky.
There is no limit to the amount of people.
B. Each group of people in the project should have a 'natural' relation
with each other.
This means that they can have a practical relation, like co-workers. Or
there can be a conceptual relation, like people who share the same ideas and
unite in a foundation. Or people who without knowing each other share the same
public space.
C. Everyone taking part in the action looks at the Sky for 30 minutes,
while lying on their back. The way the group is positioned on the location is
being choreographed by the artist. This is NOT a performance for an audience. In
this project the action is for the personal individual experience of the
participant.
D. Directly after the action experiences are being collected from the
participants by the artist and his (local) assistants.
E. A photo is made of the group having the Conversation with the Sky by
the artist.
F. This picture will be returned to the group of people who did the
action. This can happen in many forms. For example through postcards, a big
print outside, a nice framed print in their building, on their website, etc.
etc.
G. The artist, Rob Sweere, works together with the local people who
invite him. Together they will look after the group of people invited. And also
together they will look for a good moment and location to do the action. The
location were the action is done has to have a 'logical' relation with this
group of people. This can for example be the place were they work, or live. A
conceptual relation is also possible.
H. Rob Sweere will make high quality photo prints of all the different
actions. This series of photo's can be used for presentations in galleries and
museums.
I. A special website about the project is under construction and will be
put online. So everyone around the world can get information about the project
and see the project grow.
More practical information about the Silent Sky Project# is available.
